This project has provided an excellent renovation of a valuable architectural and historical worker’s village in former East Germany. 365 low-rise houses had fallen into disrepair and were restored with the help of the residents. In the renovated settlement, cars were kept out of the central area with parking spaces provided on the perimeter. Partnership between the residents, the housing company which owned the dwellings and the architect also provided an opportunity for residents of former East and West Germany to co-operate together.
