Rehabilitation of a large, dilapidated shanty housing area involving the community (5,000 people) throughout its process. Total re-organisation of a Bore-low depth piped sanitary system is to be established to improve the treatment of solid waste and quality of water supplied, using a brand new system never before used in El Salvador. Street alignment for improved traffic flow is also to be introduced whilst demolishing as little as necessary in order to retain existing urban, cultural, social and economic links. Legal title is to be transferred to the residents if they wish and credit made available for house purchase.
