Passive Solar Family Houses

Four passive solar houses have been built to maximise solar gain and minimise heat loss. They are in different situations in order to ascertain effectiveness. The dwellings are sophisticated and attractive and incorporate a range of passive solar features. At a time when there is much repair/rebuilding work to be done in the postwar era, this innovative approach to housing design and energy efficiency is timely. Associated research work is also being carried out into energy efficient means of redesigning and renovating apartment buildings.
