Ongoing project to re-house earthquake victims in the Latur District of India. 1,259 dwellings and ten building centres have been completed to date. Dwellings are of high quality design and execution and based on traditional architecture. Their cost ranges from $2,088 to $4,380. Comprehensive approach incorporating total rebuilding, in-situ rehabilitation and retro-fitting according to need. A network of ten building centres have also been established to generate the building materials required, to provide employment and give training in construction skills. Funding is from central government and donor aid.
